Within my first few weeks of working at Mars Hill I joined the Student Ministry team in cleaning out the seemingly abyss-like storage closet. We pulled everything out, sorted between what to keep and what was crap, and organized all that remained. I found myself sorting through box of random costume pieces when I came upon two pirate hooks. I placed them on and proclaimed myself “Nubs,” a pirate without any hands.

This off-the-cuff idea quickly evolved into a video series for Fifty6 following Nubs the Pirate’s journey to be the best kind of pirate (which parallelled that year’s curriculum inviting students on a journey to discover the best kind of life — the life God made us to live).
